Phytochemicals are Life Giving Compounds

Tphytochemicals1he discovery of some vitamins and minerals at the beginning of the 20th was an exciting time that led scientists to believe that they had discovered the keys to health. But the truth is, they soon discovered that it was but a small piece of the puzzle.

More recent studies show that the micronutrients required by our bodies for health and longevity are phytochemicals.

You cannot get phytochemicals from a supplement because phytochemicals are natural chemicals that whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, berries, seeds and whole grains offer.

The world of phytochemicals is barely scratched as it’s been estimated that there are thousands of different ones that have not even been discovered or studied yet, however the ones that have been discovered all have protective effects on humans.

A few that most of us are familiar with to some degree are:

Lycopene found in red peppers, pink grapefruit, watermelon, and tomato products is a great example of a phytochemical that fights and prevents prostate cancer while there are phytochemicals in berries called anthocyanin’s that protect the cardiovascular system.

Beta-carotene and lutein are two more familiar phytochemicals. Beta-carotene is a phytochemical found in abundance in carrots, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, spinach, kale, broccoli and more. The immune system, skin and bone health and vision all benefit from it. Lutein can be found in collard greens, kale, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, lettuces, spinach and artichokes and benefits eye health, cancer prevention and heart health.

Anthrocyanidins found in blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, red onions, plums, red potatoes, strawberries, and red radishes keeps our blood vessels healthy.

Micronutrients are key to satisfying our appetites and providing our bodies with their essential building blocks for health and vitality and nutrient dense foods is where to find them. By creating a diet that has a variety of different fruits and veggies as well as grains and beans, you can be sure your body will receive the variety of compounds it needs that includes phytochemicals….the bodies disease preventors.

More recent studies are emerging that indicate that the phytochemicals found in fruits and veggies provides an even greater role in preserving and boosting our health than we are already aware of.

Rather than focusing on how to lose weight we should be focusing on getting healthy because getting healthy holds the keys to our losing weight and keeping it off. When we maximize micronutrients per calorie we eliminate foods that are heavy on dead calories providing little to no nutritional value.

Losing weight should not involve deprivation. It’s never been about depriving yourself (that’s a sure way to turn on the “desire” button) it’s about eating the right foods…and large amounts of them. The ones that promote health and help you to take weight off in a healthy sustainable manner. Ones loaded with phytochemicals.

“Stop Weight Loss Resistance” is my comprehensive program that can help you move past the hurdle of weight-loss resistance. You can take off those stubborn pounds…you just need the right information and I can help.
