Do You Know If Your Diet is Nutrient Dense?


micronutrientMost mainstream diets base their strategies on eating in an unhealthy manner. They try to manipulate the amount of macronutrients; proteins, carbohydrates, fats and calories to try and get you to eat less. However, if what they did worked, we would all be slim and trim but the obvious truth is we are far from it.

Although fueling your body with nutrients first and calories second is not the entire answer, it is the cornerstone or foundation of a much better healthy eating style than the ‘whatever, whenever’ approach.

To begin fueling your body properly, the focus should always be on eating nutrient-dense foods first that are naturally lower in calories and you can then increase or decrease based on your activity levels. Just watch the magic happen to your weight and health when you begin eating this way. Making this ‘switch’ causes everything to change.

There are major incentives to centering your diet on real foods as opposed to “food-like” products…the primary and most important being real food is essential for optimal health.

So, how can you tell if you are eating a nutrient dense diet?

Your diet is nutrient dense when:

  • Your perception of food is primarily as nourishment to fuel your body
  • You eat food as close to its natural state as possible
  • You understand what true hunger is (not cravings) and you allow yourself to get hungry before you eat again.
  • Food cravings disappear and your desire is to eat less often.
  • You can easily go 4-5 hours between meals with no problems.
  • Your goals are not weight loss but to eat in a way that keeps your body strong and energetic so it functions at high levels. This allows you to live at the perfect weight for you without effort or struggle.
  • You never feel deprives of food…ever.
  • You are confident and know that you are consuming the proper amount of nutrients every day.
  • Your calories intake is never beyond what you need for the day for great health
  • You take enjoyment in the food you eat and look forward to each day.
  • Your energy level is so super that you feel as though you could jump over tall buildings in a single bound.
  • You have no regrets except for the fact that you did know discover this way of eating years ago.
